An electronic bundle, paginated and indexed

Courts in England and Wales ask for trial bundles that are paginated continuously and indexed with a description of each document and its page (Practice Direction 32), and the judiciary’s guidance on electronic bundles adds that page numbers must match the PDF’s own, starting at 1 on the first page — index included — with every index entry hyperlinked and every document bookmarked with its page. Put your documents in order and this builds exactly that: an index at the front with each document’s pages and a link to it, computer-generated page numbers in the bottom right-hand corner, and a bookmark per document that names its page. Your documents stay on your device.

  • Your files stay on your device

Court bundle runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded — not the file, not even its name.

  • Free, with no sign-up

No account, no watermark on your files and no daily limit for normal use.

  • Up to 50 files at once

Each file can be up to 100 MB. Large or scanned files simply take a little longer.

  • Works on every device

Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android, in any modern browser. Nothing to install.

  1. 1

Select your documents in bundle order — the index, page numbers and bookmarks are already on.

  2. 2

Drag them into place; name each file as you want it in the index.

  3. 3

Press Merge, then check the bundle against your court’s directions.

Good to know

Yes. Numbering starts at 1 on the first page of the bundle, which is the index, and runs through every page, so page 57 of the bundle is page 57 in any PDF reader.

By their file names, without the .pdf. Rename each file first — “Witness statement of A Smith 12.03.2026”, say — to get the description you need.

Only if they already have text. The guidance asks for typed pages to be OCR’d, so run scans through OCR PDF before adding them here.

It covers pagination, the index, hyperlinks and bookmarks. Courts and judges also give their own directions — on volumes, dividers, file names and page limits — so check those. To strip document metadata afterwards, use Clean PDF.

Each file can be up to 100 MB, and you can add up to 50 files at once. Large or scanned files simply take a little longer.
