Edit a PDF in Google Docs

Google Drive can open a PDF in Google Docs, but it reads the page like a scan and often loses the fonts, headings and layout. Convert the PDF here first: pdfconva rebuilds it as a Word document with real paragraphs, headings, bold and italic, bullet lists and images, which Google Docs opens as an ordinary, editable doc. Scanned pages are read with OCR in English or Bangla. The conversion runs in your browser, so the PDF stays on your device until you choose to put the result in Drive.

  • Your files stay on your device

PDF to Google Docs runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded — not the file, not even its name.

  • Free, with no sign-up

No account, no watermark on your files and no daily limit for normal use.

  • Up to 5 files at once

Each file can be up to 100 MB. Large or scanned files simply take a little longer.

  • Works on every device

Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android, in any modern browser. Nothing to install.

Good to know

Upload the DOCX to Google Drive, right-click it and choose Open with → Google Docs. To turn it into a native Google Doc, choose File → Save as Google Docs.

You can, and for plain text it works. Drive’s conversion reads the page as an image, though, so headings, fonts, lists and layout often come out flattened. Converting to Word first keeps that structure.
